Approached by Constellate Design who were commissioned for the debut release, I set out to illustrate the album experience, and together, layout a complete packaging design.
In a compilation record you are not only offered the individual artist stories, but invited into the broader landscape of the record label. Without being given any specific outline I decided to challenge myself to a structure-less expression: free-painting to the music, allowing a broader landscape of form and narrative to arise.
Providing space for an infinite number of do-overs could easily create inorganic results, but by limiting to just three chances I felt committed to the process and to my own knowing.
With a successful first pressing, Periphery have gone onto a second pressing with limited release in record stores across North America.
